Lachea Island is the largest and most interesting of the islands that make up the Archipelago of the Cyclops. Surrounded by crystal clear waters and dominated by the view of Etna it is one of the most evocative territories of Eastern Sicily.
The island, which originated as a result of submarine volcanic phenomena, is located in the sea mirror in front of the charming and ancient fishing village of Acitrezza “land of Malavoglia”, where you can taste all the recipes of the Sicilian tradition. Do not miss the Naturalistic Museum, which houses a rich collection that illustrates the fauna and flora of the island and exposes the archaeological and geological finds found on the site.
To the south of the Lachea island, instead, the Faraglioni and the faraglionelli (smaller) develop in the south of the Lachea island, forming a sort of diminishing-sized arch that extends towards Acitrezza, reaching almost to the beach. The crystalline waters are home to several species: colonies of sponges, starfish, crustaceans and numerous and colorful fish.
